I have evolved with Photoshop and Illustrator since we got our first black and white Mac in 1993.
My very first computer graphic was a Cicada drawn using typographical symbols and a very primitive paint box program that was an early version of Photoshop.
I have worked in the animation industry from 1998 starting as a line art scanner in a TV studio. I speed painted animation cels and worked my way up to palette designer where I coded a process for automatic cheek blushing. Liaising with director Jo Boag I painted cool palette backgrounds using complex layer stacks. I changed to another company: 'Brilliant Interactive Ideas' where I interfaced Photoshop with 3D Studio Max and painted the texture maps for characters such as Xena Warrior Princess and the sets for Superman and other Marvel comics inspired multi-path movies. I have since designed mainly for private clients using mainly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. My teaching career has deepened my knowledge of the possibilities of CGI and I have mainly helped students realise their motion graphics goals. I have used tutorials and overhead projection to share my skills with students of all ages and abilities. I have designed web banners and roll-overs for private clients and worked in e-learning design creating the Teaching and Learning Exchange portal for the Education Department.
